Jordanian Health announces the start of vaccinating refugees against Corona

Today, Thursday, the Jordanian Ministry of Health began vaccinating refugees registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees against Corona, as part of the national vaccination plan against the virus, which began this week, making Jordan one of the first countries in the world to give refugees Corona vaccines on its soil.

The Jordanian Health Ministry indicated - in a statement reported by the Jordanian News Agency - that everyone living on Jordanian territory, including refugees and asylum seekers, is entitled to receive the vaccine free of charge, noting that more than 200,000 people have been registered on the national platform to receive the vaccine.

"Jordan has included refugees in its national response plan since the beginning of the pandemic, indicating that limiting the spread of Corona requires enabling the most vulnerable people to have access to vaccines, regardless of where they come from," said the UNHCR representative in Jordan, Dominic Bartsch.

Jordan aims to vaccinate 20 percent of its population against the virus in the coming months, as about 3 million doses of the vaccine have been purchased.
