Ashraf Sobhy chairs the meeting of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers


Dr. Ashraf Subhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, chaired the meeting of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers in its 66th session via video conference, chaired by the Arab Republic of Egypt and the membership of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Tunisia, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Republic of Iraq The Sultanate of Oman, the State of Palestine, the State of Kuwait, the State of Libya.


The meeting dealt with discussions and the agenda of the Board of Directors of the Arab Fund for Youth and Sports Activities, session (41) headed by Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, in addition to reviewing the recommendations of the Youth and Sports Technical Committees that serve Arab youth through programs, activities and dialogue sessions, including a simulation model for the Arab Youth Parliament. Virtual envoys for Arab youth, the eighth European Arab Youth Forum, the Holy Sentiments Journey Program for the Youth of Arab Countries, Baghdad, the Capital of Arab Youth, the Technical Leadership Project for Arab Youth, the Arab Youth Platform, a research competition for Arab youth on the demographic dividend and the Corona pandemic, as well as the meeting of the Executive Office of the recommendations. Related to sports activities, which include the course of sports legislation and regulations, the first Arab forum for youth and sports workers, the advanced Arab program in sports investment in sports facilities, the Arab Festival for Women’s Sports, and linking Arab youth to a digital portal.

 

The members of the Executive Office of the Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports offered their sincere condolences on the death of the late Mr. Abdel Moneim Al Sha'eri, Director of Youth and Sports Administration at the League of Arab States, for his efforts during his tenure and for his constructive positions and opinions, and the office supported the perpetuation of the late's name on the meetings of the current session.

 

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi thanked all the members of the Executive Office and all the ministers in this session, including the ministers in their governments and those who recently assumed the portfolio of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in their countries. The minister also thanked Dr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, and Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Secretary-General. Assistant to the League of Arab States on the efforts made by them to work to upgrade the system of work in the files of the youth and sports sectors of the League of Arab States.

 

Subhi stressed that the youth’s participation in light of the current circumstances that the country and the whole world are going through with a cessation of activity, especially from the Corona virus, as well as other challenges facing our Arab societies, such as terrorism, unemployment and economic stagnation, was a greater impetus for the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports to work to provide and implement programs online. To attract the largest possible number of young people to invest in the energies and capabilities of the youth that are characterized by them, and to emphasize the continuity of these activities, projects, programs, and their media for all Arab youth, with the presence of Arab digital platforms and portal.

 

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, referred to the importance of cooperation in developing the activities and programs that are being implemented, which have greatly contributed to the exchange of experiences and the consolidation of values ​​and principles among Arab youth, stressing the need to give opportunities to a greater number of young people to participate in the activities, events and programs that are currently being implemented By video conference or in the future after the end of the Corona crisis.

 

"Sobhi" added that everyone should work to help young people in all countries and encourage them to be creative and innovative in the activities in which they participate, and work to spread their experiences among the Arab youth participating in the events, which helps all the participating youth to get closer to each other.

 

The Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ashraf Sobhi also recommended that the fifth of July of every year in every Arab country be a celebration of the Arab Youth Day, in light of the Egyptian efforts to unify Arab youth towards their issues and concerns. The minister also presented a number of projects and initiatives of the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports in Supporting youth, and conveying the interest of the Egyptian state, represented by the Ministry, in entrepreneurship and handicrafts.

 

While Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector, confirmed the continuous follow-up with the ministries of youth and sports in the Arab countries on supporting Arab youth and their future in light of the Corona pandemic. And act as a point of contact for the exchange of information and experiences between the ministries of youth and sports in the Arab countries, and the exchange of current and future plans and youth programs that Arab countries have put in place to confront this pandemic.

 

And she continued: "In the context of the challenges that have occurred to the Arab region and the world regarding dealing with the Corona virus and the rapid global and regional changes around Arab youth in particular, and the serious and continuous interest at the level of leaders, youth ministers and Arab governments about Arab youth and their future as a tremendous human capacity to support Arab development and what the current situation requires. To find an alternative through which youth and sports activities and programs can be implemented, and how to support Arab youth in light of the Corona pandemic.

 

Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League and Head of the Social Affairs Sector, also conveyed the greetings of Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the Arab League.


The Palestinian Minister, Lieutenant General Gabriel Rajoub, Chairman of the Higher Council for Palestinian Youth and Sports, expressed his great thanks and appreciation to Egypt, its people and its political leaders for their tireless efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause and its main supporter, and developing that there will be a meeting of the Council for Palestine soon, and this is a message to all that Palestine is not alone.


The meeting was attended by Dr. Amr Al-Haddad - a member of the Technical Sports Support Committee - at the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers and Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports for Sports Development, Dr. Mahmoud Hassan, Deputy Chairman of the Youth Aid Committee at the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers, Ali Omar, a member of the Technical Secretariat at the Youth and Sports Department of the League of Arab States.
