Palestinian Foreign Minister meets Commissioner General of "UNRWA"

The Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Maliki, met today, Sunday, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philip Lazzarini, at the ministry's headquarters in Ramallah.

Al-Maliki praised the efforts of UNRWA and its staff and their important role in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including Jerusalem. And Gaza in particular, and continuous coordination and constant communication between the institutions of the State of Palestine and all the Agency's departments, in order to fully implement its mandate, and to serve our people and refugees at home and in all the Agency’s areas of operation.

He referred to the recent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and what preceded it, against the displacement of our people in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and the role of UNRWA in providing services, especially opening its schools to receive refugees and forcibly displaced people, providing health services, psychological support and food, in addition to contributing to sweeping the destruction left by the aggression And chaos in the Gaza Strip.

In turn, the Commissioner-General briefed the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the agency's efforts during the aggression on Gaza, indicating that their pivotal role was in the maximum capabilities and powers.

He affirmed their readiness to work in a larger and deeper manner with the threatened neighborhoods and refugees in East Jerusalem.
