The Minister of Cooperation discusses with the President of Russian Railways joint relations in the transport sector

Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, met with Sergey Stolyarov, President of the Russian Railways Company, and his first deputy, Sergei Pavlov, during her participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, to discuss joint relations and projects in the transport sector.
The Minister of International Cooperation affirmed the government’s interest in developing the transport sector and enhancing its sustainability in a way that enhances the linking of local communities and increases the effectiveness of development plans that are implemented through a strategy on which the Ministry of Transport is based, noting that the transport sector accounts for more than 20% of the ongoing development cooperation portfolio of the Ministry of Cooperation The international project, with a value of 5.13 billion dollars, and these funds contribute to the implementation of many projects, including the development of subway lines, the implementation of the national road project, the modernization of railways and other projects.
Dr. Rania Al-Mashat referred to the continuous coordination between the Ministries of International Cooperation and Transport, to strengthen international partnerships with multilateral and bilateral development partners, with the aim of providing the transport sector’s needs to implement priority projects and transform into a sustainable transport sector.
In 2018, a contract was signed between the Railways Authority and the Russian company Transmash, which represents a Russian-Hungarian alliance, to manufacture and supply 1,300 new railway cars, 375 of which have been delivered so far. There are also a number of projects proposed to be implemented between the Ministry of Transport and the Russian Railways.
It is worth noting that the Egyptian-Russian relations are considered strategic at all levels, and the Comprehensive Partnership and Strategic Cooperation Agreement, which was signed in Sochi in October 2018, constitutes the basis for strengthening bilateral relations between the two sides and achieving a common interest in supporting economic growth in the two countries.
The Minister of International Cooperation is participating in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2021, which is the largest global gathering since the Corona pandemic, and one of the largest global economic events, and has been organized annually in St. Petersburg, Russia since 1997, and under the auspices of the Russian President since 2006, and the forum is a platform A world leader in networking between representatives of the business community and discussing the main economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets and the world at large.
More than 10,000 people from more than 120 different countries participate in the Forum annually, which brings together heads of state and government, deputy prime ministers, ministers and CEOs of major Russian and international companies, foreign banks, leading experts and other representatives of the political world, and business elite.
